I’ve noticed this poster around midtown Manhattan the past few weeks. I think it’s a great example of typography, color and graphic design for advertising. It’s eye-catching, beautiful and conveys a great message and association with the Bloomingdale’s brand during the holiday season. (MORE)

I happened upon this decorative sign and thought it was an interesting piece of “modern folk art” using words that remind us of Fall. I find the type treatment very simple and charming… a slice of modern Americana. (MORE)

Lettering sculptor Gary Breeze takes the letterform and turns it into art. Born in Essex, England in 1966, Gary studied Graphic Design at Norwich School of Art followed by an apprenticeship with the letter-carver and sculptor David Holgate. In 1992 he worked as assistant to Richard Kindersley before setting up his own workshop in London a year later. Today the workshop produces lettering cut into stone and wood for a wide range of applications including private and public commissions and exhibitions. (MORE)

Designed as a garden ornament and the first in a series of spheres ranging in size from 15cm to over 1.5 metres, this globe is inscribed and painted with the names of nine plants and flowers: Iris, Sunflower, Hydrangea, Rose Mallow, Chrysanthemum, Apricot Blossom, Peach Blossom, Sharon’s Rose and Cherry Tree. These are also the romantic names given to communication satellites by the Japanese and the Koreans.
